HarakekeOverviewThis shooting estate is known as Harakeke. The property is a thousand hectares with a diversity of terrain including wetlands and streams. A dramatic geographic feature of the area is an extinct volcanic cone covered in pockets of native bush which is at the centre of the farm. Much of the pheasant shooting will take place on this steeper country. Adjacent is a long sheltered valley with excellent partridge habitat. Release pens and cover crops have been established in these areas. Harakeke is situated on State Highway 1, ten kilometres north of Wairakei.
